Congratulations to the class of 2024 on their graduation! We are so proud of all your hard work over the last 5 years and know that each of you will go on to do amazing things. As class of 2005 alumni Christina Qualls said at graduation: "the world is waiting for you, and I know you'll make it a better place." 🎉👏 We are rooting for you every step of the way!

Continuing with our 8th grade celebrations, we're

Continuing with our 8th grade celebrations, we're immensely grateful to Dr. Izabela Leahy and Ms. Althea Hankey King from Boston Children's Hospital for donating laptops to our 8th grade students for high school. Laptops are an essential resource for students matriculating to high school, and we're so grateful to the team at Children's for supporting MCA in providing these vital items to our 8th grade class. An added bonus to the celebration was having their 3rd grade reading buddies present the new laptops to the 8th graders! #thankyou to the team at Children's for your continued partnership and support of Mother Caroline Academy.

As our school year comes to a close, we are so thrilled to be celebrating our 8th grade class as they enjoy their final days here at MCA as students 🎉 @boslinks kicked off the celebrations last Friday with their annual "Graduation Shower" for the 8th grade class. The LINKS celebrated our 8th graders in style, decorating the cafeteria, bringing in special lunch for the students, and gifting them kindles, headphones, laptop cases, and more, to ensure that they are fully equipped with the necessary items to support their continued educational journeys. They offered their own stories and words of wisdom to the students to take with them as they move on to these next exciting steps, reminding them to always use their voices and be true to themselves. Thank you to the LINKS for the MANY ways you support the MCA students - we are so grateful for your partnership and community.

MCA 7th and 8th graders were given the opportunity

MCA 7th and 8th graders were given the opportunity to participate in the first ever kickball game at Fenway Park yesterday with @brochris4boston against students from the 2nd Suffolk District! 8th graders Harmonie, Naaysha, Julyah, and 7th graders Anne-Sagine, Divine and Yamilee played on Rep. Worrell’s kickball team, after they got to take a tour of Fenway Park. The day culminated in a pizza party at Game On after the game ended 🍕🎉 thank you to @brochris4boston for giving our students this exciting opportunity!

Meet class of 2014 alumni Amber Reese, and hear her perspective on the valuable insights she gained from her time at Mother Caroline, and the ways in which her time here set her on the trajectory to pursue her dreams. Amber recently graduated from Spelman College in 2023, and is currently working as a Nonprofit Youth Program Consultant with Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston supporting their career readiness pathways initiative, focused on the bridge to healthcare careers for youth. When reflecting on her time at Spelman, Amber spoke about the value of all girls education, and how her positive experiences at Mother Caroline informed her choice in picking Spelman, calling it a "full circle moment". We're so proud of all that you're doing, Amber, and can't wait to continue to see you shine!

If you’ve been following along with us over the last few months, you’ve heard already about our immersive career camp at Boston Children’s Hospital, but today we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on one of the ways we are working to build on that experience for our 7th and 8th grade classes, through a pilot program with @hms_medscience 🏥🩻 Today, our 7th grade class got the chance to scrub up once again and explore patient simulations as they worked hard to stop the bleed of a “patient” who came in with a broken arm! We’re so grateful to @hms_medscience for offering our students the chance to build on their prior understanding of possible careers in medicine and further immerse themselves in experiences that may give them greater exposure to and an understanding of future career paths they may want to pursue 👩🏽‍⚕️🩺

Trust. Perseverance. Teamwork. Communication. Inclusivity. These are the words the 8th grade class used to describe the skills they practiced at @merrowvista this year! A staple of the 7th and 8th grade experience, Camp Merrowvista offers our upper school students the opportunity to get out of the city for a few days and bond together as classmates through a variety of outdoor activities from archery, climbing, sailing, and more. 🧗🏾‍♀️⛵️🏹

When asked about the Merrowvista trip, 8th grader Harmonie reflected, “I think we should go for longer because we were really sad about leaving…some of us were talking about having our own camping trip because it’s really fun interacting with your classmates in this way. Being outside, having a little phone break - it’s really good for your development at the age we are at!” 💪🏽📵🏔️

Ten pictures aren’t enough to showcase all the wonderful things our 5th grade class got to explore and experience this week at @farmsforcitykids in Vermont! 🐓🐮 whether it was milking cows, feeding calves, exploring the cheese house, or even cleaning up the animal pens, the 5th graders faced these new challenges with enthusiasm, teamwork, and open hearts and minds 🚜 There was so much joy this week at the farm as the 5th grade discovered new passions and connected with all kinds of animals along the way🐄

As part of National Poetry Month, the 3rd grade cl

As part of National Poetry Month, the 3rd grade class has been immersed in a poetry unit, kickstarted by a visit to the @mfaboston to observe art that might inspire their poems 🎨🎭 The class took a tour called Community and Identity, and “traveled” to Africa, Egypt, and the Americas 🌎 Back at school, the class discussed everything they saw and wrote down additional notes in journals, focusing on how each art piece made them feel and things the art made them think about ✨

The poetry unit has continued through the month of April and will culminate with a 3rd grade poetry reading for students and families at the end of this month. We can’t wait to hear the beautiful poems our 3rd grade class came up with!

In April, the 6th grade class presented their incredible self-portrait projects at Harvard's Graduate School of Education in the gutman_library 🎨 Families, friends, and staff alike came together to celebrate the student's hard work throughout the course of this year and learn more about their inspiration - Bahamian textile artist @gioswaby. This year's exhibit marks the first time this class has presented their artwork externally in an exhibit, and the first time MCA has held an exhibit at Harvard since before the pandemic. We're so proud of the sixth grade class for all their hard work this year, and thank you to the folks at the Gutman Library for hosting our students! 👏

Mother Caroline Academy and @stepintoartinc have been in partnership for the last 16 years to provide an enriching and unique year-long art project for the 6th grade class. This year's project was inspired by contemporary artist Gio Swaby's "Going Out Clothes" series, and began with students visiting her exhibition at the Peabody Essex Museum in the fall. Students also had the opportunity to meet the artist via Zoom, as she hosted a Q&A for the students and gave them tips and tricks for navigating a portrait project and exhibiting your work. Gio even went above and beyond to send the students a special video message wishing them good luck to be shown to the girls at the event! We are so grateful to Gio for not only inspiring our students' work this year, but for going out of her way to support and connect with our students personally. #thankyou #allgirlseducation #artisticexpression
