Hours: Monday – Thursday 3:00pm -5:00pm. Mother Caroline Academy academic year schedule is very similar to Boston Public Schools in regards to vacation and snow days.
Mother Caroline Academy (MCA) seeks a driven, well-qualified Afterschool Enrichment Teacher to join its robust faculty and staff.

About Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center:
Mother Caroline Academy is a tuition-free, independent school for girls in grades 3-8 from Boston’s underserved neighborhoods. Serving girls of all faiths, races, and cultures, the school provides a high-quality education that nurtures each student’s unique gifts and prepares her for success in competitive secondary schools and college. Rooted in Catholic tradition, MCA emphasizes scholarship, leadership, and social and moral development. The Academy supports its graduates through secondary and college education, with a 100% high school graduation rate and 96% college enrollment rate.

The Academy is 100% privately funded and we believe our mission can best be achieved by focusing on the needs of the whole family and by preserving a spirit of volunteerism and commitment among all those who aid, support and benefit from MCAEC.
Our Students:
Mother Caroline Academy & Education Center serves 92 girls in grades 3-8, who are 80% African American, 13% Hispanic, 7% mixed race. Position Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Create systems that increase the participation of underrepresented students in the district to include at-risk learners, English Learners, students with disabilities and foster youth.
- Understand and apply effective strategies for intervention and differentiation in the classroom,
- Embed opportunities for student critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, as well as use of technology and digital media, into all lesson and unit plans.
- Maintain strong classroom management and hold students accountable for upholding school policies, student-developed norms, and classroom expectations.
- Update curriculum on a regular basis using data and research, and seeking out colleagues and professional development opportunities for Computer Science curriculum enhancement.
Qualifications:
- Have experience successfully teaching or leading an after school enrichment curriculum in a middle school, including a track record of improving student achievement.
- Have a Associates Degree and or Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- Use data to inform instructional planning and practice. Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, sharing and analyzing student performance results, and humility in constantly working to improve instructional practices.
- Experience in standards-based, backwards planning.
- Experience working in an entrepreneurial, dynamic school or related demanding environment.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, Google Docs/Classroom, etc.
